[0002] Pad printing machine with digital control and its operating procedure
[0004] Technical field of the invention
[0006] The present invention corresponds to the technical field of pad printing objects and elements such as footwear, and specifically to a digitally controlled pad printing machine.
[0008] Background of the Invention
[0010] At present there are many fields that demand a varied and different aesthetic, which can be easily solved by pad printing the elements in question, so that by printing colors, borders, figures or any preferred motif on them, it is possible to completely change the aesthetics giving it the style you want.
[0012] Furthermore, with these designs it is possible to give cheaper materials the appearance of different higher cost materials, thus allowing any user to access products with at least a certain aesthetic appearance that would not otherwise be possible.
[0014] To make these impressions, pad printing machines are used that have an area in which to place the object to be printed and printing means normally formed by an inkwell, a cliché with the image to be printed on the object and a stamp that is the one in charge of taking the image of the cliché and leaving it printed on said object.
[0016] One problem with these pad printing machines is that they are typically designed for printing flat objects. The pad acts by pressure, so that after the cliché is impregnated with ink, the pad first presses said cliché and then presses the object to be printed. With this printing mode, when faced with objects whose perimeter is not flat, such as a piece of footwear such as a sole, they are not capable of generating a continuous impression along its entire perimeter.
[0017] With the aim of solving these drawbacks, the applicant himself developed two patents subsequently unified in a single PCT, reference PCT / ES2019 / 070315 in which the machine has a rotating device for holding the shoe piece that also has a tilting movement approaching and moving away from the printing media.
[0019] The pad is formed by a roller with means of rotation with respect to a central axis and the machine has control means connected to the means of rotation of the rotating device, to means of rotation of a clamping die, to a linear actuator of tilting of a clamping frame of the rotating device and the means of rotating the tampon, so that the movement of said linear actuator is synchronized with the means of rotating the rotating device, with the means of rotating the at least one last and with the tampon turning means.
[0021] This machine satisfactorily solves the problem of printing on a surface other than the flat surface, but like the existing machines in the state of the art, it is an analog machine, and all of them have the disadvantage that each time a new one part is fastened to the clamping device of the same, whether it is rotatable or not, it is necessary for an operator to carry out some adjustment tasks of the machine for each new part before starting a new printing series.
[0023] The movement of the pad and the inkwell must also be adjusted and, although for example in this latest, more advanced machine, there are control means that synchronize the movements of all these elements, it is still necessary to make modifications and mechanical adjustments to adapt the machine to a new batch or manufacturing series.
[0025] This generates great losses of time in adjustments that depend on the design and skill of the technician who adjusts it, since it is not possible to store them anywhere for their later precise retrieval and immediate application.
[0027] This expertise of the technician also has a direct and significant influence on production, as a machine not optimally adjusted significantly penalizes production results and performance.
[0028] No pad printing machine has been found in the state of the art that works in a way other than analog, nor that has any device or mechanism capable of solving this problem.
[0030] Description of the invention
[0032] The digitally controlled pad printing machine for footwear pieces or similar elements presented here comprises a pad printing mechanism with a first clamping device for at least one piece of footwear with a first axis of rotation thereof connected to a first engine and printing means of a determined image for each of said pieces of footwear.
[0034] The pad printing mechanism of this machine comprises means of digital control of the first clamping device of the shoe piece and of the means of printing an image on the same. Said pad printing mechanism is also associated with a mechanism for digitizing a piece of footwear.
[0036] The digitization mechanism for its part comprises a means of detection and digitization of the entire perimeter of the piece of footwear that has at least one digitization sensor, A / D converters and a control circuit for the acquisition and processing of information with a logic programming that has an integrated algorithm.
[0038] Said digitization mechanism also comprises a second device for holding the piece of footwear arranged in front of the detection means, which has a second axis of rotation of the piece with a first limit switch sensor, connected to a second motor and contained in a plane parallel to the detection means.
[0040] It also has a memory for storing the data obtained in the detection means, and communication means of the control circuit of the digitization mechanism with the digital control means of the pad printing mechanism.
[0042] This specification in turn proposes a method of operating a pad printing machine, for printing on a piece of footwear by means of a pad printing machine as previously defined. This procedure comprises a first stage of digitizing the piece of footwear using the digitizing mechanism, which presents the phases detailed below.
[0043] A first phase of placing a piece of footwear in a second clamping device, followed by a second phase of positioning the piece of footwear in an initial working position, by rotating it around the second axis of rotation, being the degrees of said rotation determined by a first limit switch sensor.
[0045] This is followed by a third phase of initiating the digitization of the footwear piece by means of detecting and digitizing at least a part of its perimeter.
[0047] Simultaneously with said digitization of the piece, the fourth phase of making consecutive turns of the piece of footwear is carried out. Each of these turns corresponds to certain degrees up to a total of degrees less than or equal to 360 °, depending on the area of the same that is to be digitized.
[0049] A fifth phase consists of storing the digitization information obtained in the memory of the digitization mechanism and, finally, a sixth phase of extraction of the piece of footwear from the second axis of rotation is performed.
[0051] Once this first stage of digitization of the piece is finished, a second stage of pad printing is carried out using the pad printing mechanism.
[0053] This second stage comprises two new phases of the procedure, a first phase of communication of the control circuit of the digitization mechanism with the digital control means of the pad printing mechanism and a second phase of printing the footwear piece by means of the printing means of said digitally controlled pad printing mechanism, as many times as required.
[0055] With the digitally controlled pad printing machine and the pad printing procedure proposed here, a significant improvement in the state of the art is obtained.
[0057] This is so because thanks to digital control a management of all the movements and total and partial positioning of the parts that make up the machine is achieved.
[0058] It is very easy to operate, since it is simply necessary to digitize previously and only once, each object to be pad printed and for each one a sequence of synchronized movements of all the elements of the machine is obtained, precisely defined in a program of work that is transferred to the means of digital control of the pad printing mechanism through the means of communication of said mechanism with the digitization mechanism.
[0060] In addition, a great advantage is that the digitization mechanism does not have to be exclusive to a single pad printing machine. Thus, this pad printing machine has a pad printing mechanism associated with a digitization mechanism, but it is possible to have more pad printing machines whose pad printing mechanism is associated with the same digitization mechanism, so that it is dedicated to digitizing the pieces of footwear or elements that are required and the information is transmitted to the corresponding pad printing mechanism in each case.
[0062] Although on the other hand, there may also be the option that the pad printing machine carries the digitization mechanism as more of it.
[0064] Part of this information obtained by the digitization mechanism consists of the original positioning of the elements of the machine and the other part is a sequence of synchronous movements that, when executed from start to finish, result in the impression of the cliché design. on the object to be pad printed, leaving the machine in an optimal state to repeat this work as soon as it is fed with a new object to be pad printed similar to the previous one.
[0066] All this information obtained through the digitization mechanism generates a sequence of commands from which the movements of the machine take place in the pad printing process. These movements consist of a positioning of the object to be padded, a positioning of the printing pad and finally the printing of the object.
[0068] As both positioning, of the object and of the tampon, are carried out simultaneously, a significant reduction in the time invested in them is achieved, reducing it to the minimum possible. This time is adjusted and synchronized digitally, so that if there is a problem, it adjusts itself to the most unfavorable one, without the need for intervention by any operator.
[0069] As for the movements of the elements for the printing of the object, such as movements of the inkwell, the pad, a vertical axis of movement of the latter ... they are also digitally controlled according to a digital sequence programmed and transferred to the printing media. digital control of the pad printing mechanism.
[0071] All this programming allows precise control of the pressure and speed of rotation of the object on the tampon in each of the points of contact with it, which allows different pressures and therefore corrections in different points of the perimeter of the object, all this digitally adjusted through a very intuitive and easy-to-use human / machine interface, through graphic, touch screens and / or any other type of interface that current or future technology provides.
[0073] This digital synchronization makes it possible to optimize production to the maximum, since there are no losses of time in intermediate procedures, unlike conventional systems in which it is necessary to mechanically readjust all the control points of the machine each time the model is changed to pad printing, regardless of whether this model has already been made before or not.
[0075] With this machine, it is possible to store the information related to the adjustment positions and movements of each of the models to be pad printed and easily retrieve it when required.
[0077] Thus, it is possible to carry out the pad printing work of a first object, for example, change that object for others to be pad printed for a time and, when required, to resume the pad printing of the first object, without having to repeat the digitization process, since the digital sequence corresponding to it once obtained was saved in memory and can be used for new pad printing jobs at any time.
[0079] It is therefore a machine that, in addition to being valid for pad printing work on curved surfaces thanks to the use of a roller-shaped pad, allows a complete digitization of the machine and the pad printing process by means of it.
[0080] This makes it possible to obtain a significant reduction in production times as well as a simplification of the tasks involved, by eliminating any intermediate intervention of operators, thereby achieving an increase in production and machine performance.

[0099] Detailed description of a preferred embodiment of the invention
[0101] In view of the figures provided, it can be seen how in a preferred embodiment of the invention, the digitally controlled pad printing machine for pieces (3) of footwear or similar elements proposed here, comprises a pad printing mechanism ( 1) which has a first clamping device for at least one piece (3) of footwear with a first axis (4) of rotation thereof connected to a first motor (5) and means for printing a certain image for each one of said pieces (3) of footwear.
[0103] In this machine, the pad printing mechanism (1) comprises means of digital control of the first clamping device of the piece (3) of footwear as well as the means of printing an image thereon.
[0105] Said pad printing mechanism (1) is associated with a digitizing mechanism (2) of a piece (3) of footwear. This digitization mechanism (2) comprises a means of detection and digitization of the entire perimeter of the piece (3) of footwear that comprises at least one digitization sensor (6), A / D converters and a control circuit for acquisition and information processing comprising logic programming with an integrated algorithm.
[0107] Likewise, it has a second clamping device for the piece (3) of footwear arranged in front of the detection means, with a second axis (7) of rotation of the piece (3) connected to a second motor (8) and which presents a first limit switch sensor (9). This second axis (7) of rotation is contained in a plane parallel to the detection means.
[0109] It also comprises a memory for storing the data obtained in the detection means and communication means for the control circuit of the digitization mechanism (2) with the digital control means of the pad printing mechanism (1).
[0110] In this preferred embodiment of the invention, the means for detecting and digitizing the perimeter of the piece (3) of footwear is formed by a mechanical digitization sensor (6), a first carriage (10) for moving the second device holding the piece (3) of footwear, connected to a third motor (11) and which presents a linear path of approach and departure with respect to said digitization sensor (6) and a second end-of-stroke sensor (12) of the first carriage (10).
[0112] Thus, the first carriage (10) facilitates the movement of the second fastening device in which the piece (3) of footwear is fastened and while it performs turns so that the digitization sensor (6) takes data from the entire perimeter, the first carriage (10) moves the part (3) that interferes with the digitization sensor (6) when contacting it. When this happens, the result of the processing of the information corresponding to the angular position rotated from its original position and the displacement that the first carriage (10) has had to carry out is stored in the storage memory until contact with the digitizing sensor (6).
[0114] In this preferred embodiment of the invention, as shown in Figures 1 and 6, the mechanical digitizing sensor (6) has a semicircular shape. The particular shape of this sensor makes it possible to avoid the calculation of collisions, optimizing the processing time of working paths for pad printing. Furthermore, it allows adjustments regarding the point of interference with the printing media pad, which is not possible with other sensors and also allows the discretization of the shoe piece (3), optimizing the trajectories for different pad diameters.
[0116] As shown in said Figure 1, in this embodiment the second axis (7) of rotation of the piece (3) is arranged vertically, so that the piece (3) of footwear is positioned horizontally. This arrangement has been chosen for convenience and for greater simplicity of implementation of the axes, however in other embodiments this axis may be arranged in any other position that is chosen or that is more favorable.
[0118] On the other hand, in other embodiments, the means for detecting the perimeter of the piece of footwear can be formed by an optical digitizing sensor for image processing to obtain a digital representation of the perimeter and an algorithm for processing the data. obtained by said optical device to obtain the perimeter of the piece (3) of footwear. In that case, as it is an optical sensor that will perform a series of digital captures, the first carriage (10) can be dispensed with along an axis perpendicular to the sensor, since a displacement in that direction is not required and, only the rotation of the piece (3) of footwear would be performed along the second axis (7 ) rotation.
[0120] In this preferred embodiment of the invention, the communication means of the control circuit of the digitization mechanism (2) with the digital control means of the pad printing mechanism (1) are wireless communication means. In this way, by means of a wireless connection, the information obtained by the detection and digitization means is transmitted to the digital control means of the pad printing mechanism (1), so that the pad printing of the piece (3) of footwear can be carried out. .
[0122] In other embodiments, said means of communication of the control circuit of the digitizing mechanism (2) with the means of digital control of the pad printing mechanism (1) are means of direct communication by means of a cable connection or may even be formed by a data output connector in the digitizing mechanism (2), a data input connector in the pad printing mechanism (1) and an external data storage device suitable for connection to any of said connectors.
[0124] On the other hand, in this preferred embodiment of the invention, the second device for securing a piece of footwear (3) comprises an element for fixing the same to said second device, which in this specific case is formed by a hydraulic piston .
[0126] According to another aspect, referring to the part of the machine formed by the pad printing mechanism (1), the printing means thereof, in this preferred embodiment of the invention, comprise a plate (13) longitudinal plane with the image to be printed arranged opposite the first clamping device of the piece (3) of footwear, with a first and second (13.1, 13.2) opposite ends, the first end (13.1) being the one located farthest from the first clamping device.
[0128] It in turn comprises an inkwell (14) located on the cliché (13) and a pad (15) formed by a roller with a central axis (16) of rotation subject to a vertical axis of displacement (17), such that the pad (15) has a first position on the cliché (13) in contact with it and a second position raised with respect to the cliché (13) at a height such that it is aligned with the piece (3) of footwear. For this, the pad printing mechanism (1) comprises a fourth motor (24), for the raising and lowering movement of the tampon on the vertical axis of displacement (17).
[0130] In this embodiment, as shown in Figures 2 to 4 and 7, the pad (15) is fixed to a central cylindrical and hollow rim (20), whose axis is coincident with the central axis (16) of rotation of the tampon (15) and is formed by a lateral surface (21) for fixing the tampon and respective bases perpendicular to the central axis (16) that have a fastening (22) thereto in the central area and are configured by means of spokes (23) that emerge from said attachment (22) to the central shaft (16).
[0132] In this way, a significant reduction in the amount of material used to make this tampon fixing element is achieved, which results in lower cost, but above all, in obtaining lower moments of inertia that allow a better behavior in braking and acceleration of the buffer.
[0134] Likewise, in this embodiment, the tampon is made of a material suitable for pad printing and its shape is such that, as shown in Figures 2 to 4, the outer diameter of the central section of the tampon is greater than the diameter exterior of the section at the height of the sides of the same. This shape of the tampon, with a larger diameter in the central section, generates a greater and better reach from the surface of the tampon to the curved areas of the piece of footwear, preventing areas with less print intensity from being generated.
[0136] Both the inkwell (14) and the vertical axis of displacement (17) are fixed to a second displacement carriage (18) that allows the movement of both on the cliché (13) along it in both directions.
[0138] In this machine, for this preferred embodiment of the invention, the first clamping device of the piece (3) of footwear is also attached to a third displacement carriage (19) with a limit switch sensor (19.1), that allows a movement of the same towards and away from the pad (15) of the printing means, where the pad (15) is located in a position between the inkwell (14) and the first end (13.1) of the cliché (13 ). For this movement of the third carriage (19), the pad printing mechanism comprises a fifth motor (25).
[0139] Furthermore, as shown in Figure 5, the printing means comprise respective end-of-stroke sensors (18.1, 16.1, 17.1, 4.1) connected at least to the second displacement carriage (18), to the central axis (16) of rotation of the tampon (15), to the vertical axis of displacement (17) thereof and to the first axis (4) of rotation of the first clamping device of the piece (3) of footwear, all these elements being connected to the digital control means of the machine.
[0141] In this specification a pad printing procedure is also proposed, for printing on a piece (3) of footwear by means of a pad printing machine such as the one described, which comprises a first stage of digitizing the piece (3) of footwear by means of the mechanism of digitization (2) and a second stage of pad printing by means of the pad printing mechanism (1) of said machine.
[0143] Thus, the first digitization stage comprises a series of phases that are indicated below.
[0145] The procedure begins with a first phase of placing a piece (3) of footwear in a second holding device of the digitizing mechanism (2).
[0147] In this preferred embodiment of the invention, since the pad printing machine comprises an element for fixing the piece (3) of footwear to the second clamping device thereof, the method presents after said first phase, an additional fixing phase from the same to said second clamping device by said fixing element. It will be seen later that it also necessarily has an additional deactivation phase of this fixing element.
[0149] Next, a second phase is performed consisting of positioning the piece (3) of footwear in an initial working position by rotating it around the second axis of rotation (7), the degrees of said rotation being determined by a first limit switch sensor (9), until reaching a certain home position.
[0151] As in this preferred embodiment of the invention proposed here, the detection and digitization means is formed by a mechanical digitization sensor (6), simultaneously with said second phase of positioning the piece (3) of footwear in a initial working position, the procedure comprises a phase of positioning the first carriage (10) for moving said second device in an initial working position determined by the second limit switch sensor (12).
[0153] Next, a third phase of starting the digitization of the piece (3) of footwear is carried out by means of detecting and digitizing at least a part of its perimeter.
[0155] Simultaneously with the third digitization phase, a fourth phase takes place consisting of making consecutive turns of the piece (3) of footwear, around the second axis (7) of rotation.
[0157] Each of these turns corresponds to previously determined degrees, up to a total of degrees less than or equal to 360 °, depending on the area of the piece (3) of footwear to be digitized.
[0159] In addition, and again due to the fact that in this preferred embodiment of the invention, the detection and digitization means is formed by a mechanical digitization sensor (6), the phase of consecutive turns of the piece (3) of footwear This procedure is carried out such that after each of these turns it comprises an intermediate phase consisting of a first movement of the first carriage (10) until contacting the mechanical digitization sensor (6) and a second backward movement of said first carriage (10) moving away from said sensor, so that a combination of angular positions and positions of the first carriage (10) is obtained.
[0161] This is followed by a fifth phase corresponding to the storage of the digitization information obtained in the memory of the digitization mechanism (2) and finally, a sixth phase of extraction of the piece (3) of footwear from the second axis (7) of rotation .
[0163] Since an additional phase of fixing the piece (3) of footwear by means of a fixing element has been previously defined for this preferred embodiment of the invention, it is therefore necessary in this procedure to consider an additional phase, prior to the sixth phase of extraction of the part (3) from the second rotation axis (7), consisting of a deactivation of said fixing element of the shoe part (3) to the second clamping device.
[0164] On the other hand, referring to the second stage of pad printing by means of the pad printing mechanism (1), this comprises a first phase of communication of the control circuit of the digitization mechanism (2) with the digital control means of the pad printing mechanism (1 ), by means of which all the information collected in the first stage is transferred to said pad printing mechanism (1), so that it can act through its digital control means in a completely digitized way.
[0166] Once this information has been transferred, the second phase is already that of printing the piece (3) of footwear by means of the digitally controlled printing means of said pad printing mechanism (1), as many times as required.
[0168] Given the pad printing mechanism (1) defined for this pad printing machine, in this preferred embodiment of the invention, the printing phase of the piece (3) of footwear by means of the printing means of said mechanism comprises in turn a first phase of initial movement of a second carriage (18) towards the second end (13.2) of the cliché (13) and back to the first end (13.1) thereof. With this initial displacement, in which the pad (15) is in a raised position with respect to the cliché (13), it is achieved that the inkwell (14) impregnates the cliché (13) with ink initially, before starting the printing of the piece (3).
[0170] Next, a second phase of positioning the tampon (15) takes place on the vertical axis of displacement (17) in a first position on the cliché (13) in contact with it. The tampon (15) is located near the first end (13.1) of said plate (13), as shown in Figure 2.
[0172] As can be seen in Figure 3, with the pad (15) in this position, the third phase of movement of the second carriage (18) is carried out from the first end (13.1) of the cliché (13) to the second end (13.2 ) thereof, with the inkwell (14) and the pad (15) in contact with the cliché (13), so that the image of the latter is marked on the pad (15).
[0174] This is followed by the fourth phase consisting of the positioning of the tampon (15) on the vertical axis of displacement (17) in a second raised position at the height of the piece (3) of footwear, as shown in Figure 4, and in an initial printing position by rotating it with respect to the central axis (16), determined by the respective limit switches (17.1, 16.1) of the vertical axis of displacement (17) and of the central axis (16) of rotation of the pad (15).
[0176] Simultaneously with said fourth phase of positioning of the tampon (15), a fifth phase of positioning of the piece (3) of footwear arranged in the first clamping device in an initial position of tampon printing thereof is performed.
[0178] This positioning of the piece (3) of footwear is carried out by means of the rotation with respect to the first axis (4) of rotation and the movement by means of the third carriage (19). Furthermore, the positioning is determined by the respective limit switches (4.1, 19.1) of said first axis (4) and said third carriage (19).
[0180] Next, a fifth phase takes place consisting of the simultaneous rotation of the tampon (15) and the piece (3) of footwear with opposite turns, such that the image of the tampon (15) is printed on the piece (3) of footwear.
[0182] Once the printing of the piece (3) of footwear has been made, a sixth phase of movement of the second carriage (18) is carried out from the second end (13.2) of the cliché (13) to the first end (13.1) of the The same with the tampon (15) arranged in the second raised position on the vertical axis of displacement (17).
[0184] This is followed by a seventh phase of positioning the pad (15) with respect to the vertical axis of displacement (17) in a first position in contact with the cliché (13), such that the pad (15) is ready to start a new copy of the same image.
[0186] And finally, an eighth phase is carried out simultaneously with the seventh phase of positioning the tampon (15), consisting of the extraction of the printed piece (3) of footwear.
[0188] The described embodiment constitutes only an example of the present invention, therefore, the specific details, terms and phrases used in the present specification are not to be considered as limiting, but are to be understood only as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis that provides an understandable description as well as sufficient information to the person skilled in the art to apply the present invention.
